Landscape Links, Butterflies and Glossy Black Cockatoos Workshop.

Come and join Hastings Landcare for a free community Workshop at Beechwood School of Arts on Friday March 22nd from 8:45am.

North Coast Local Land Services Andy Vinter and Joshua Bean will discuss important habitat attributes and regulations to consider when working on private property to restore habitat for native animals. Andy says, “rural landholders and even standard backyards can provide stepping stones of habitat across the landscape, these connections are vital for the survival of our local wildlife”.

The Hastings region supports a wide range of beautiful and diverse butterfly species. We will learn from Dr Anthony Moore about butterflies and moths, key host plant species and ways to attract them to our gardens. Dr Moore says, “Butterflies and moths are a beautiful and vital part of our ecosystems”.

Habitat connection across our landscapes is vital to the long-term survival of native wildlife including the Glossy Black Cockatoo. Dr Brian Hawkins will share his valuable insight into these spectacular birds. Dr Hawkins says, “Community events like this are crucial for threatened species conservation, it’s really great to be working with Landcare and LLS on landscape restoration”.
