Our Landcare Network is something to be proud of and there is no better time than Landcare Week (5-11th Aug) to stop and reflect on the amazing Landcare Community! The collective efforts of our volunteers, landholders and supporters create a huge local impact to our community, environment and biodiversity! We have a week of events!

Monday 5th Aug 2024- Bush Breathing

Bush Breathing is based on the Japanese practice of "Shinrin Yoku" or Forest Bathing. Bush Breathing is simply being in nature and connecting with it through your senses. Bush Breathing becomes a bridge between the bush, your five senses, and your breath. More Information.

Location: Port Macquarie -Christmas Bell Plains courtesy of Birpai LALC-   We will send a meeting point to attendees via email (note no toilet facilities on site)
Bring: Yourself, drink bottle & hat. It is recommended to have limited caffeine beforehand.

Tuesday 6th August 2024 - Farm Walk- Erosion Works and Environmental Restoration

Join property owners in a farm walk to see the works carried out to restore a stretch of Pappinbarra River after the floods. Stop for a cuppa on veranda to get an understanding in what was involved to apply for grants and get the work done. You will leave inspired by what has been achieved.

Wednesday 7th August 2024 - King Creek - Come and Try Landcare Day!

Join us in learning how to improve bushland through weed removal and help to create a wildlife habitat corridor! Bring a chair and morning tea to share, meet your neighbors and enjoy a chat with like minded people! Careful Landcare can be addictive!

Location: Sarahs Cresent, King Creek. Just after Cowarra Close, look for the Landcare sign!

Wednesday 7th August 2024- Farm Walk, Birdwatching and Lunch!

Join us for a farm walk (2km approx). We will stop to do some birdwatching at the wetland and carry on down to see a tree planting carried out in in 2019 in collaboration with property owner, Landcare and TAFE to protect the banks of the Hastings River (estuarine). We will have a sausage sizzle for lunch or bring a picnic.

Friday 9th August 2024 - Camden Haven-Come and Try Landcare Day!

Join Landcare groups from the Camden Haven area in a community day of weed recognition and removal! We will focus on two problematic weeds of the area, Morning Glory and Ground Asparagus in Riverside Reserve, to improve habitat for its varied wildlife. Meet like minded people, share and learn from each other and make positive impact on your local environment.

Catering: Please join us at Laurieton United Services Club (LUSC) for morning tea, to celebrate all our hard work!

Saturday 10th August 2024 - Wauchope Volunteer Expo

Bring the family to a day of demonstrations and information from community groups of the Wauchope area! Lots of stands, live music, food stalls and a monster raffle! There is something for everyone to get involved in and build a stronger community. Come and find the Landcare stand and have a chat!

Sunday 11th August 2024

No Event - Take the day off to enjoy the natural bushland and biodiversity of our local environment. Go for a bushwalk, go for a swim, go birdwatching, sit in the sun, be grateful for the natural areas and biodiversity our region has to offer!
